Why use the NWEA?

One of the biggest advantages of the NWEA test is the immediate availability of results. Teachers can use a student’s scores within days to begin addressing that student’s individual needs, as well as the needs of the classroom. In addition, district-wide results are used to guide staff development and improve curriculum.

In addition, results from the spring testing window show student growth over the course of the year, helping teachers and the district assess what strategies had the best impact.

National Norm information: More than 2.8 million students were part of the 2008 NWEA MAP Norm Sample. The National Norm is the average score for all students who tested during the specified season in each grade. The Norm Growth scores were generated by tracking growth for only those students who tested in both testing sessions evaluated for growth.
