Senior Spotlight: Claire Lentsch

In honor of the 2018 Farmington High School graduation, we’re highlighting a few of this year’s outstanding graduating class. Today’s Senior Spotlight is: Claire Lentsch!

Claire stays plenty busy at FHS by participating in Speech, School Newspaper, Governor to Governor Tutoring, 6 school choirs (including All-State Choice and a competitive audition-based Chamber choir), Theater, Pep Band, Cross Country and Track and Field...just to name a few! She also dedicates time to helping direct the middle schools musicals and is a member or Future Business Leaders of America and Tri-M Music honor Society.

Ms. Weis, Claire’s previous math teacher and current TA supervisor appreciates Claire’s hard working attitude and excitement for learning.

“Claire works hard and puts her all into learning,” said Weis, “she never gives up. She struggled in math last year and just kept asking for help and working at it. She loves to sing and enjoys public speaking. She lights up whenever she talks about how she is making a difference in the world.”

Outside of school responsibilities, Claire is a religion teacher for a group of 6th grade girls, volunteers at the Discovery Center, is a Miss Farmington and Miss Congeniality Ambassador, writes for The Shelby Report ( a national magazine with over 76,000 subscribers) and has served as the Prosecutor on the State Teen Court.

As you can tell, Claire took full advantage and is thankful for the doors the Farmington community has opened to her.

“The community of Farmington welcomed me with open arms and smiling faces. The opportunities you have access to as a Tiger are truly irreplaceable. FHS provided me with phenomenal resources, giving me a strong foundation to discover my true passions.”

Next fall, Claire will attend the University of Minnesota Twin Cities to pursue a major in Mass Communications and Marketing. She is also excited to begin a mentorship program with a public relations firm in the Twin Cities and get an early start on learning more about combining marketing and communications into a future career.

Claire’s dream for her future is to be part of something big.

“I want go to work every day and know that the work I am doing is really making a meaningful difference on a large scale,” she said, “I want to travel and see the world. Discover, learn and strive to understand life from many different perspectives. I would work the best in a leadership role, so I hope to work my way into a large company, or maybe create my own someday.”

Advice for future seniors

“Keep working. The senior slide will hit you, but you have to make sure you keep moving forward.  Take the time to thank the people who have supported you on your journey. Thank your teachers for the time they have invested in you and your education. Keep an open mind, have confidence in yourself and your choices, and never stop looking for the next opportunity.”
