Lanetta - April's Healthy Hero

Introducing April’s Healthy Hero: Lanetta Franzoi, a special education paraprofessional at Farmington Elementary School!

Lanetta began her wellness journey a few years ago when her doctor noticed her cholesterol levels were much higher than the normal range. This prompted Lanetta to begin making major changes in her fitness and eating habits.

Her goal was to bring down her cholesterol naturally, so she joined Weight Watchers and started working out regularly. She wanted to be healthy so she could continue to be more active with her kids. As soon as she began to pay attention and dedicate herself to her new healthy habits, she noticed her energy levels were much higher and she felt a lot better. This made it an easy decision to continue on her wellness journey.

“Lanetta has lost several pounds over the years. Her attitude is contagious and her outlook on life and physical activity gives her the energy for classroom challenges and a healthy approach to stressful situations,” said Julie Mogenson, Lanetta’s coworker at FES.

For others who wish to make similar changes to their well-being, Lanetta suggests you start by making small changes each day. Start moving a bit more each day/week and increase the amount or intensity as you feel comfortable. When Loretta first began her journey, she was going on walks around her neighborhood. Now she has a number of half marathons under her belt.

Currently, Lanetta works out at least four days a week. She attends a strength and conditioning class two days, and runs or walks on the other days.

As for diet, she suggests incorporating more fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins into your diet. They will help fill you up and keep you satisfied for longer periods during your busy days.

Congratulations, Lanetta! Keep up the good work!
