Staff Changes Coming to Farmington Area Public Schools
Posted on 05/25/2018
ISD 192 LogoThere will be some notable changes in Farmington Area Public Schools administrative staff beginning July 1, 2018. Barb Duffrin, Executive Director of Educational Services for Farmington Area Public Schools, has recently accepted the position of Superintendent for Mahtomedi Public Schools. On Thursday, May 24, the Mahtomedi Public Schools Board of Education officially approved the hiring of Duffrin as Superintendent and she has resigned her position with District 192, effective June 30. Duffrin has been a part of District 192 for over a decade, a key part of strategic planning, and a great contributor to the success of our schools. “She will be greatly missed, but we are excited for her and for Mahtomedi,” said District 192 Superintendent Jay Haugen.

Jason Berg, the current Principal of Farmington High School, will be joining the District Service Center in July and continuing much of Duffrin’s work. Berg has served in the district for many years as a teacher and administrator. He has a passion for the Farmington Area Public Schools’ strategic plan and is dedicated to putting the needs of students first.

The position of Farmington High School Principal will be filled by Dan Pickens. Pickens has been a teacher in the district and currently serves as an assistant principal at the high school. “I anticipate the transition to a new building principal at FHS will be smooth, “ said Berg, “I know [Pickens] is excited to continue the strategic work at Farmington High School.”

“Although these are some big changes, we are blessed to have many talented and dedicated staff members to help make the transition a success. I hope you will join me in congratulating Barb, Jason, and Dan on their new positions,” said Superintendent Haugen.
