Patriotic Day - Decorative
2018 Farmington Patriotic Day
The 2018 Farmington Patriotic Day Celebration will take place on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Farmington High School. All are invited to join us for a free dinner of pork chops and sides at 5 p.m. followed by a special program at 7 p.m. The theme this year is Honor Flights.

Medication Bottle
Reminder: Medication Authorization Forms
This is a friendly reminder that if you want your child(ren) to take either prescription or over the counter medication (e.g. Tylenol or Advil) at school, a physician and parent signed Medication Authorization form must be completed annually and returned to the building nurse before the medication is administered. Required forms are available here and will not be emailed to you this summer.

The 2018 Farmington High School Graduation Ceremony will be held on Friday, June 8, 7 p.m. at Farmington High School. Due to the forecast of rain and thunderstorms over the next 48 hours the ceremony will be held indoors in the FHS Main Gym. FHS Sophomores Experience the Real World in the Reality Store
On Tuesday, 10th graders at Farmington High School took part in the Reality Store, a real life financial activity that tested students ability to spend their money wisely. Throughout the day, different sophomore classes were excused to meet in the gym and begin their new “life.”

Newbery Award Winning Author Visits North Trail Elementary
North Trail Elementary fifth graders marched into the Media Center with excited chatter, big smiles, and hand-made signs proclaiming, “We love you, Erin!” The students were preparing to meet and speak with Erin Entrada Kelly, recipient of the 2018 Newbery Medal for Hello, Universe, the 2017 APALA Award for The Land of Forgotten Girls, and the 2016 Golden Kite Honor Award for Blackbird Fly. The kids were impressed by her awards, but more by the quality of her writing.

Farmington Art On Display
Last night, Farmington had it’s 6th annual District Art Show, showcasing art from students in the district, regardless of age. The artwork ranged from pencil drawings to 3 foot tall paintings to a wearable dinosaur costume. The event was held at Farmington High School and was busy with students and parents, excited to see the immense amount of creativity in the room.

BMS Poets
Boeckman 8th Graders Share Poetry at Local Coffee House
For the first time, 8th graders at Boeckman Middle School have taken their poetry outside the classroom and shared it with the community. In addition to reading, writing, and sharing poetry in class, students were offered the opportunity to attend an open mic at BlueNose Coffee in Farmington. “We've always had students read their poetry in class, but this was the first optional poetry reading outside of school,” Jenna Schlatter and Jennifer Logan Allen, 8th grade Language Arts teachers, shared in a joint statement. “Here at BMS, we have many passionate poets who are looking for a way to share their work with others. This was also a way to give students a chance to voice their thoughts and emotions in a supportive environment,” the teachers shared.

Grand Day at the Elementary Schools
On Friday, April 20th and Friday, April 27, 1st (and some 2nd) graders at Farmington Elementary, Meadowview Elementary, North Trail Elementary, and Akin Road Elementary invited their grandparents to attend their annual Grand Day event. Grandparents and special guests were greeted with a music program where students sang, danced, and played instruments to entertain and honor their family in the audience. After, students showed their special guests their school and different projects they had been working on.

FHS at the Visual Art Festival
Fifteen Farmington High School students competed in the Region 1 Visual Art Festival in Rochester, MN on Saturday, April 21. They received 6 Excellent ratings and 9 Superior ratings. In addition to a Superior rating, Madison Esters was awarded Best in Show for her photograph, Reflection. This earns her the opportunity to compete at the state level. Congrats to all the FHS participants for their hard work and excellent results!

Elementary Science Fairs
This past month, all five ISD 192 elementary schools held Science Fairs. Dozens of students from each school have spent the past months creating, researching and building various projects to present in front of their teachers, families, judges and classmates. After presenting their projects, a number of students from each school were chosen to move on to the Regional Science Fair in April.

VSA Minnesota, an organization that helps make the arts accessible to Minnesotans with disabilities, has awarded the Farmington Early Childhood Center with an exciting teaching grant! Students enrolled in Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) and/or Wee Tigers programs have the opportunity to learn from Anna Grudzinski, a Teaching Artist and Music Therapist provided by VSA Minnesota.

Crew52 Holds Two FHS Seniors!
As Super Bowl LII rolls into Minnesota, the entire nation is preparing for the biggest football game of the year. Among the most prepared are Farmington High School seniors, RJ and Justine Beal, who have volunteered their time to be members of the Super Bowl Host Committee, better known as “Crew 52”.
