FHS Debate
FHS Debate Coach, Rachel Baumann, submits finalist debate topic for 22-23
08/20/2021
Across the country high school students compete in formal debate every year. The topics they debate are carefully chosen. First a coach must research, write, and present a paper on the topic to a panel of judges. From there the top five topic areas are discussed by students and coaches and a final topic is chosen by popular vote. This year forty-seven delegates from nineteen states attended the NFHS Policy Debate Topic Selection Meeting from August 6-8, 2021 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ten topic reports were presented, one of which was written by Farmington High School’s Debate Coach Rachel Baumann, along with the Rosemount Debate Coach, Nathan Wodarz.

We are looking forward to the start of the 2021-22 school year! Time has gone by quickly as we are entering our tenth year of utilizing iPads in a 1:1 ratio to better personalize learning opportunities for students. Better than 75% of our learners opted to check out their iPads for the summer! Students that participated in this summer’s optional iPad checkout have already completed and agreed to the terms of the district 2021-22 iPad Loan Agreement using our RevTrak system. These students are set for the 2021-22 school year and may simply bring their issued iPad with them for the first day of school. The following is general iPad information for families with learners in grades K-12 new to taking an iPad home and/or parents of students checking out their same iPads again this fall. In the next few weeks additional school-specific information will come from building principals regarding iPad deployments for their learners. For most schools this will be after the official start of the new academic year.

Face Covering in ISD 192
05/13/2021
This evening Governor Walz announced an end to the statewide mask requirement, in light of recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), stating that fully vaccinated individuals no longer need to wear a mask. Minnesotans who are not fully vaccinated are strongly recommended to wear face coverings indoors and schools are still required to follow the Minnesota Safe Learning Plan for the remainder of the school year. One requirement of the MN Safe Learning Plan is that “all students, staff, and other people present in school buildings and district offices or riding on school transportation vehicles are required to wear a face covering.” So, ISD 192 will continue with its current practice around face coverings through June 4, 2021. Thank you for your continued understanding and cooperation.
