Farmington High School graduation rate continues to be significantly above the state average

The Minnesota Department of Education has released the official graduation rates for the class of 2024 and ISD 192 continues to perform significantly above average. The class of 2024 graduation rate for Farmington High School was 91.7% (507 students) — 7.5% higher than the 2024 graduation rate for the state of Minnesota, which was 84.2%.

Tigers SERVE Students Earn National Awards For Community Service Impact

Farmington Community Education is delighted to announce 12 students from Tigers SERVE are being recognized by the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) and InnerView in the eighth Annual Community Service Impact Awards. This program, open to all U.S. students, has been designed to connect student community service activities, skill development, and commitment to the Global Goals to transform our world. The Kroger Co. is presenting the sixth annual Zero Hero Awards to students for taking action to help create communities free of hunger and waste.

Like most districts across Minnesota, Farmington Area Public Schools face significant financial challenges. These challenges have been addressed through the use of assigned fund balance dollars and budget cuts, including reducing administrative and teaching staff, restructuring middle school schedules resulting in a loss of electives, and ending career and technical partnerships like MNCAPS and CTE Programming at ISD 917 (DCTC Campus).

Optional Summer iPad Checkout is Back for 2025-26!

Families with learners who currently take iPads home in grades K-11 may now opt to checkout their district issued iPads for the summer months! We have been offering the optional summer iPad checkout since 2016. A majority of eligible families and learners last year opted to check out their issued iPads. Using RevTrak to agree to the updated 2025-26 iPad Loan Agreement will ensure that your child is set with their iPad check out for the entire 2025-26 academic year.

Each spring students from ISD 192’s five elementary schools host their own unique science fairs. The students in grades 3-5 may go on to the Southern Minnesota Regional Science and Engineering Fair in late April. Finance Advisory Council Application Now Open!

Farmington Area Public School District 192 residents are invited to apply for membership on the district’s Finance Advisory Council. The district is accepting applications from April 21 through May 4 for up to 15 district stakeholders, including at least seven parents/caregivers or other community residents. The council will also include one representative from the district principals, the district teachers, the district support staff, and no more than two current school board members. The term for all positions is three years. The council will meet four to six times throughout the year with updates provided to the Board after each meeting. The purpose of the Farmington Area Public Schools Finance Advisory Council is to enhance transparency and community understanding of school district finance and budgeting mechanisms and challenges; support stakeholder participation in the district’s budget planning process; and, assist in communicating school district financial information to the greater ISD 192 community. The council is advisory in nature and has no expressed or implied power or authority for decision making.

ISD 192 Honored with ASBO International’s Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for 18th Straight Year

Farmington Area Public Schools, ISD 192, has for the 18th straight year been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE) by The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO). This certificate recognizes school districts that uphold the highest standards of financial reporting and transparency. The school district earned the Certificate of Excellence for its exemplary Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024.

Three ISD 192 School Board seats are up for election on November 5, 2024. These are four-year terms. The filing period is July 30th through August 13th. The District Office (20655 Flagstaff Avenue, Farmington, MN 55024) will be open 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday and will be open until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13th. There will be an information session held for those interested in becoming candidates at Farmington City Hall (430 3rd St, Farmington, MN 55024) on Monday, July 29th beginning at 6 p.m. You can learn more about the ISD 192 School Board here on our website.

Referendum election set for November 5, 2024

I want to make you aware of an important decision made by the Farmington Area School Board at its May 13 meeting. Along with having a significant impact on our learners and the future of our district, it is a decision that is important for staff, parents and community to be aware of and learn more. The board voted unanimously to schedule an operating levy referendum election for November 5, 2024. The proposal on the ballot will ask voters to revoke the district’s existing operating levy of $696.15 per pupil and replace it with a new levy of $1,556.15 per pupil. The new levy will provide approximately $11 million ($5 million from previous levy and $6 million from new levy) per year for 10 years.

Congrats to FHS Bilingual Seal Recipients!

The Minnesota Department of Education’s Bilingual Seals program is an accreditation that multilingual learners may earn by taking an assessment which covers the four domains of language - speaking, reading, listening, and writing. If a learner passes the language exam they not only receive a seal that is on their transcript, but they also receive college credit that is accepted at all MNSCU colleges and universities, as well as other post secondary institutions across the country. More information can be found on the MDE Bilingual Seal Program website. At Farmington High School, 32 current 11th and 12th graders earned college credit through the Bilingual Seal Program.

FHS Graduation
Farmington High School graduation rates remain high

Official graduation rates are not released until nearly a year after most students have graduated. The state of Minnesota released the graduation rates for the 2022-23 school year in April of 2024. The 2023 graduation rate for the state of Minnesota was 83.3% (58,293 graduates), which represents a 0.3 percentage point decrease in the four-year graduation rate compared to the class of 2022. As a district we saw our graduation rate remain steady for 2022-23 at 93.2% after the big increase from 91.9% in 2020-21 to 94.1% in 2021-22. In addition, we have another 4.1% of the class of 2023 that are continuing to pursue their FHS diploma. Here is a more detailed snapshot of our 2023 graduation information...
